Pack thoughtfully and pack light. Specific needs vary by destination and season — check the weather forecast for your dates and confirm any country-specific guidance with your group leader before departure. This list covers the essentials we recommend for every traveler.

Travel Documents

Passport valid at least 6 months beyond your return date
Printed itinerary and group leader's contact information
Boarding passes (paper or mobile)
Travel insurance policy details and emergency assistance number
Photocopies of your passport's identification page (one with you, one at home)
Any required visas or electronic travel authorizations
Driver's license or government-issued photo ID

Clothing

Modest attire for sacred sites — shoulders and knees covered for both men and women
Lightweight, breathable layers for changeable weather
Long pants or skirts (required at many churches, mosques, and synagogues)
A light scarf or shawl (useful for covering shoulders or head when needed)
Sun hat or wide-brim hat
One smart-casual outfit for special dinners or services
Lightweight rain jacket or compact umbrella

Footwear

Broken-in walking shoes with good support — your most important item
Comfortable sandals for evenings and warm-weather days
Water-friendly shoes if your itinerary includes wading sites (Jordan River, Caesarea, Petra, etc.)
Wool or moisture-wicking socks to prevent blisters

Health & Medications

Prescription medications in their original labeled containers, with a copy of each prescription
Basic first-aid kit (bandages, antiseptic wipes, blister care)
Over-the-counter pain reliever, motion-sickness tablets, and anti-diarrheal medication
Sunscreen (SPF 30+) and lip balm with SPF
Insect repellent (depending on destination and season)
Hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes
Eye drops and saline spray for dry climates

Toiletries & Personal Care

Travel-size toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo
Razor and any personal grooming items
Glasses, contact lenses, and contact solution
A reusable water bottle
Wet wipes and tissues for long site visits

Electronics

Smartphone with international roaming or a local SIM plan arranged in advance
Charging cables and a portable battery pack
Universal travel adapter (plug types vary by country — check before you go)
Camera or smartphone with sufficient storage for photos
Headphones

Money & Cards

A credit card — notify your bank of your travel dates and destinations
A modest amount of U.S. cash for tips and incidentals
Some local currency obtained on arrival at the airport ATM
A secure travel wallet or money belt for important documents and cash

Faith Essentials

Your preferred translation of the Bible (printed or on a device)
A journal and pen for reflections at sacred sites
Devotional readings, rosary, or other personal prayer items
A small field guide or notes from your group leader about each site
